Simple Macaroni Cheese

Today’s menu was easy macaroni cheese with tomato ground beef sauce. It is so easy and still very yummy. I only needed 30minutes to make this meal including the preparation & the mix n match :P.

250 gr macaroni or can be replaced by any other kind of pasta, bring to boil until getting the ‘al dente’ pasta
250 gr ground beef
1/2 onion
1 tbsp chopped basil leaves
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup of tomato puree (better mixed with peeled tomatoes)
pinch of salt and seasoning
25 gr butter
25 gr all purpose flour
300 ml milk or light cream
canned champignon
25 gr cheddar or parmesan cheese


*For the beef tomato sauce
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium high-heat and stir fry the onion until tender. Add in the ground beef and keep sauteing until the beef slightly brown. Put in the basil leaves, pepper, and don’t forget to add seasoning. The last ingredient to be in is the tomato puree & peeled tomatoes. Wait until a bit bubbling and set aside.

*White sauce
Heat the pan over low-heat and put in the butter. Add flour and stir until it dissolve in the butter and pour in the milk/cream. Keep stirring and it will become white thick sauce. Reduce the heat and add in the thin-sliced champignon and grated nutmeg. Mix in the macaroni into this white sauce and it’s ready to serve with the beef tomato sauce and sprinkle the grated cheese on top of it. Optional seasoning for those who likes spicy food, a dash of cayenne pepper powder or Tabasco sauce.
